Volunteer on the Farm

2020 CSA Volunteer Opportunities

The volunteer schedule for the CSA, Market Garden and Flower Gardens will begin in June. No prior experience required, just a passion for gardening, agriculture, local food or simply being outside in nature with your hands in the dirt! If you are interested in this uniquely satisfying volunteer opportunity, contact us!

Contact our Volunteer Services Department at [email protected] with any questions.

Volunteer Shares are sold out for 2020!
We offer a Volunteer Shareholder position who would like to take their commitment to a higher level with the CSA. "Working Shares," or volunteer shareholders, are out in the field harvesting or distributing vegetables for three hours a week (a total of 60 hours) in exchange for a $230 discount for a full share or $125 discount for a small share--about 30% off the share price. This may vary if we can't reach full capacity for volunteer numbers due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In order to receive your volunteer discount, you will need to sign up for a CSA volunteer position with  or call 720-865-4340 for information on how to be a volunteer shareholder.

These positions are critical to the CSA and weekly attendance is mandatory (we realize people go on vacation and we can be flexible).

Weekly Schedules

Community Supporting Agriculture
(csa and market garden)

Volunteers will help harvest, weed and work in our Market Garden or CSA fields. High physical demand but part of a team!
Tuesdays: 7-10 a.m.
Thursdays: 7-10 a.m.
Fridays: 7-10 a.m.

June until mid-October.

Cut Flower Garden/Bouquet Production:
Tuesdays: 8-11 a.m.
Thursdays: 8-11 a.m.
June until Mid-October.
Volunteers will help with general weeding and garden maintenance. The flower harvest in the Cutting Garden happens at the beginning of each shift. After cutting the flowers in the field, volunteers will head to the washstand (indoors) to assemble mixed bouquets for CSA shares or at our markets.

CSA Distributions:
Tuesdays: York St. 3:30-7 p.m.
Thursdays: Chatfield Farms 3:00-7 p.m.
Volunteers help with the set-up for distribution by assembling tables with produce and signs. The volunteers will help keep produce stocked throughout the distribution, greet members, and assist staff with filling veggie share bags to hand out as customers arrive. At the end of the distribution, the volunteers will assist with cleaning up and breaking down the distribution. This position works directly with our shareholders and a friendly, outgoing personality is a must. Knowledge of cooking locally is also a great benefit. Because these shifts are slightly longer than field shifts, volunteers may meet their 60 hours earlier in the season. This position is required to do lifting, cleaning with cleaning products, and unloading bins from a truck.

All new volunteers (non-shareholders) will need to attend a volunteer orientation with Volunteer Services by way of video this year instead of in-person training due to the COVID outbreak. We also will have a volunteer training session for each group with our farmers when you start.

Each season we (as staff and volunteers) become part of a farming family. You will be invited to join us for a few potlucks/appreciation parties throughout the season.
